Who We Are

QR Code & Barcode Scanner is developed and published by MCMLV1 LLC, a technology company based in the United States. This privacy policy applies specifically to the QR Code & Barcode Scanner application distributed on Google Play.

Information We Collect

QR Code & Barcode Scanner does not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No names, email addresses, or contact information collected by the application
• No location data or GPS information
• No device identifiers collected by the application itself
• No user accounts, sign-ins, or registrations
• No analytics, usage tracking, or telemetry sent by the application
• No photos or images saved from the camera — the camera is used only for real-time barcode detection

Camera Usage

QR Code & Barcode Scanner requires camera access to scan QR codes and barcodes. The camera feed is processed entirely on your device using Google ML Kit's on-device barcode scanning library. No images or camera data are transmitted to MCMLV1 LLC, Google servers, or any third party. The camera is used exclusively for real-time barcode detection and is not used for any other purpose.

Locally Stored Data

The app stores a small amount of data on your device using local storage. This includes your scan history (the decoded text from scanned codes), your appearance and behaviour preferences, and a cached record of whether you have purchased Pro. MCMLV1 LLC never receives any of it, and the app transmits none of it to any server. You can clear it at any time by deleting individual history entries in the app, using Clear History, or clearing the app’s data in your device settings.

One thing worth knowing: if Android Backup is switched on for your device, Android may include this app’s data — including your scan history — in the backup it makes to your own Google account. That backup belongs to you and is governed by your Google account settings; MCMLV1 LLC has no access to it. Your Pro purchase record is deliberately excluded from backup, because Google Play is the authority on what you have bought.

Links You Open

A QR code can contain any web address, including one that does not match what the code appears to be for. After every scan the app shows you the destination — the website domain — before anything is opened, and nothing is opened until you tap to continue. If you prefer links to open immediately, you can turn on Open Links Automatically in Settings; it is off by default.

Network Activity

QR Code & Barcode Scanner uses an internet connection only when you explicitly choose to take an action on a scan result, such as opening a URL in your browser, searching for a product, or looking up a book. These actions hand the address to your device’s default browser, which opens the external website (Google Search, Google Shopping, barcodelookup.com, Google Books). The app only ever passes web addresses beginning with http or https. No data is sent to MCMLV1 LLC. The application itself does not make any background network requests, does not phone home, and does not transmit scan results automatically.

Exporting Your History

Pro users can export their scan history as a CSV file. When you do, your device’s file picker asks where to save it, and the file is written only to the location you choose. The app requests no storage permission, does not read files you have not selected, and does not upload the export anywhere.

Third-Party Services

The application uses Google ML Kit for on-device barcode scanning. ML Kit's barcode scanning module runs entirely on-device and does not transmit data to Google servers. When you choose to look up a product or open a link, your device's browser connects to the relevant website (Google, barcodelookup.com, etc.) subject to those services' own privacy policies. MCMLV1 LLC does not control or receive data from these external services.

Advertising

QR Code & Barcode Scanner does not contain any advertising. No advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers, or ad-related tracking of any kind are included in the application.

In-App Purchases

QR Code & Barcode Scanner offers an optional one-time in-app purchase of $5.00 to unlock Pro features (expanded scan history, CSV export, and auto-copy on scan). This transaction is processed entirely by Google Play. MCMLV1 LLC does not collect, process, or store any payment or billing information. Your purchase status is managed by Google Play and cached locally on your device.

Children's Privacy

QR Code & Barcode Scanner does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app does not collect personal information from any user. The app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking services.

Permissions

QR Code & Barcode Scanner requests the following Android permissions:

• CAMERA — Required to scan QR codes and barcodes. The camera feed is processed on-device only.
• VIBRATE — Used for haptic feedback when a scan is detected and when interacting with buttons.
• BILLING — Required for the optional Pro upgrade via Google Play.
• INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Used only when you choose to open a link or look up a product, and by Google Play to verify a Pro purchase. Scanning itself needs no connection.

The application does not request location, microphone, contacts, storage, or phone permissions. Saving a CSV export uses your device’s file picker, which needs no storage permission.

Data Sharing

MCMLV1 LLC does not share, sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking platforms are integrated into the application.

Data Security

Because QR Code & Barcode Scanner does not collect or transmit personal data, there is no personal data at risk. Scan history and preferences stored locally on your device are protected by your device's own security measures.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
